A 3-year-old girl who drowned in a San Mateo lagoon on Saturday afternoon has been identified by the San Mateo County coroner's office as Tatiana Eiland-Clinton.

The toddler was reported missing from her family's home on Day Avenue at about 4:15 p.m., San Mateo police Sgt. Dave Norris said.

Police and family members searched for the girl and found her floating in a nearby lagoon about 35 minutes later, Norris said.

Police and paramedics performed CPR, but Tatiana did not regain consciousness, and was declared dead at the scene.

The coroner's office is investigating the death, which police have called a "tragic accident."
