The Bay Area is home to two of the country's top hospitals, according to a new report.
U.S. News released its annual list of "the Best Hospitals Honor Roll" Tuesday, which ranks the nation's hospitals that show an "unusually high expertise" across multiple specialties.
The UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco and the Stanford Hospital and Clinics were both ranked among the top 17 hospitals in the country in the report.
Selected hospitals must show high efficiency in at least sic of 16 specialties. Out of the 5,000 hospitals examined for the study, only 17 met the criterion to be chosen.
To qualify for the honor roll, hospitals must score near the top in at least six of 16 categories.
