The Valley Transportation Authority is investigating a bomb threat made on the public transit system which serves the entire Santa Clara County.
According to VTA officials, trains and buses are being stopped and searched for possible explosives.
VTA, public officials and the media were contacted by a man who threatened a suicide bombing on the transit system, VTA officials said. Officials announced around 11:30 a.m. that they had detained the man, whom they identified as 42-year-old Jonathan Keim.
VTA’s sheriff officers and security patrol earlier alerted all officers and operators to be on the lookout for Keim. A security sweep was underway throughout the entire system to ensure safety.
VTA will provide updates as more information becomes available.
