Alameda County voting officials say vote counting machines at multiple polling places malfunctioned on Election Day, but they have a backup plan in place to get votes counted.
The vote counting machine at precinct 337200, inside the the A/C Transit lobby on Franklin Street in Oakland, broke down early Tuesday morning. A replacement machine also didn't work. Voting officials didn't get the machine fixed until 3 p.m.
Similar problems were reporting at other Alameda County polling places, but officials say they have an easy backup plan in place. They say ballots will be put in lock boxes and tallied later at a central location.
