Livermore police are bracing for a “tremendous increase in traffic congestion” because of 30 new stores being added to the premium outlet mall.
Phase Two of the San Francisco Premium Outlets in Livermore opens on Thursday, and police sent out a warning to shoppers and motorists to expect more traffic on neighboring streets and the Interstate 580 freeway near El Charro and Jack London boulevards. Twenty more stores will open later in the year.
During heavy traffic times, police said the entrance to the Outlets at “The Shoppes” will be closed forcing all traffic to enter the mall via Livermore Outlets Drive. This will create a traffic flow through the outlets in a counter clockwise rotation, which eases congestion and bottlenecking of traffic, police said.
