This weekend kicks off a host of celebrations across the Bay Area marking Juneteenth.
The federal holiday commemorates the emancipation of Black Americans who were enslaved in Texas two years past the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.
San Jose, San Francisco and Oakland all have free events honoring Juneteenth on Saturday.
