Low-flying government helicopters will be flying over Bay Area communities over the next few days, testing for radiation, according to the San Francisco Examiner.
A twin-engine Bell 412 will "hover just 300 feet above the ground" in San Francisco, Oakland, and Pacifica from Monday until Friday, according to the newspaper.
There's no Fukushima event that's being covered up -- the chopper is looking for "naturally occurring background radiation," the newspaper reported.
The helicopter will survey 69 square miles on behalf of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Domestic Nuclear Detection Office and the National Nuclear Security Administration, the newspaper reported.
