Fairfield police said a Travis Air Force Base explosive device response team has removed a hand grenade that was found in the back of a business Thursday morning.
Police warned people around 10 a.m. to avoid the 600 block of Beck Avenue near Cadenasso Drive where the hand grenade was found.
The area is now safe and normal business may resume, police said.
The grenade appeared to be an actual explosive device and officers will investigate the incident and try to determine how the grenade ended up behind the business.
There are no leads or specific information at this time, police said.
