An onslaught of rain and high winds will hit the Bay Area Saturday morning and the bad weather will continue all weekend and into next week, according to the National Weather Service.
Light rain is expected to start shortly after midnight Friday along the coast and then will become heavier as it moves inland. Higher elevations could get some snow.
The rain will taper off Saturday night but will return Sunday and won't let up until Monday, according to weather officials. More storms are expected next week.
Urban areas could see up to an inch of rain, while the North Bay could get as much as three inches over the weekend.
San Francisco fire officials said to avoid The Embarcadero between Howard and Mission due to flooding. Pier 14 was closed for a few hours and the flood was cleared before 2 p.m., according to the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management.
With the rain will come high winds, and a wind advisory is in effect for 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, with winds forecasted to be between 20 and 30 mph during the day. Gusts may hit 45 mph.
San Francisco International Airport Duty Manager said that 83 flights were cancelled and 471 flights were delayed due to weather. The wind direction and speed have prompted changes in flight configuration.
San Jose International Airport has reported no flight delays or cancellations due to weather. The Oakland International Airport has not yet responded to inquiries.

National Weather Service forecasters also warned that trees may fall and cause power outages for residents. Just before noon on Saturday, a tree was reportedly down on Centennial Drive in Berkeley and blocking lanes, prompting a response from UC police.
The U.S. Coast Guard responded to a 35-foot motor boat that was reportedly in distress just before noon on Saturday. Three people were aboard with life jackets. The novice boater had trouble navigating with high winds and waves, according to the USCG.
Officials warn mariners to watch out for high winds and choppy seas this weekend. Recreational boaters should stay off the water, as should surfers.
