Santa Rosa DUI Checkpoint Nets Five Arrests

Five people were arrested on suspicion of DUI Saturday night and into Sunday morning in Santa Rosa during a DUI and driver's license checkpoint, police said.

The Santa Rosa Police Department conducted the checkpoint between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. on Piner Road near Range Avenue.

Police said 565 vehicles were screened during the checkpoint.

Paul David Protine, 38, Toni Lee Abraham, 52, Joshua Turner Watson, 35, Michelle Katrina Vargas, 35, and Nicholas Alexander Prado, 19, all of Santa Rosa, were arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Police said 12 drivers were cited or arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended or revoked license, and people received citations for miscellaneous vehicle code violations.
