Marissa Mayer Priorities: God, Family and Yahoo

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer is a powerful mother

There's nothing more important than running a top Silicon Valley company in need of leadership. Nothing aside from motherhood, that is.

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, a former early employee of Google who took the reigns of her former competitor in July, took two weeks off for maternity leave earlier this year.

And, as one of Fortune Magazine's "Most Powerful Women," she has zero regrets. That's what she told a group of invited guests earlier this week at at Fortune's Powerful Women Event in Palo Alto.

Mayer gave birth to a son at the end of September.

In the business world, some poo-poo'd Mayer's choice to care for herself and her son, "saying it might prompt businesses to expect the same of other women," the HuffPo reported.

In Canada, the Web site noted, mothers get 44 weeks off from work to care for a new child. That's on average.

For Mayer, she told the Palo Alto crowd that her priorities are "God, family and Yahoo -- in that order." She said she was quoting Green Bay Packer's owner Vince Lombardi.
