Despite some improvements in velocity and averaging more than one strikeout per inning, Drew Pomeranz couldn't maintain his command and the Giants left the nation's capital with a 4-2 loss to the Nationals on Thursday.
The team hopes to get back on track as they head to Pittsburgh to face Jordan Lyles and the Pirates -- if the weather cooperates.
If the game goes on, the Giants have a lot of work to do. Lyles has been dazzling on the mound and has only allowed one run in 11 innings over his first two outings this season -- and his opponents? Well, they're batting just .158 against him.
Madison Bumgarner is getting starter honors for the Orange and Black and is currently on pace for a career-best 0.923 WHIP.
