Coming off their first-ever Stanley Cup Final appearance in June, the Sharks are set to begin their Western Conference title defense Wednesday night when they host the Kings.
But they enter the 2016-17 season not as the favorite in the West, according to oddsmaker Bovada.
Three teams -- Chicago (15/4), Dallas (13/2) Anaheim (13/2) -- hold better odds than the Sharks (15/2) in the West. Los Angeles, Nashville and St. Louis share the same 15/2 odds to make the Stanley Cup Final.
If the Sharks return to the Cup Final, they hold 16/1 odds to win it. The defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins hold 10/1 odds to repeat.
