THE HOLIDAYS... aren't just about the foods we eat, like the cheese-filled dates and the ginger cookies and the chocolate cocktails and the posole and the 12-layer casseroles. It's about the foods we would like to eat, one day, down the road, perhaps during the next holiday season though probably far sooner. Which means that, if you're a devoted practitioner of the kitchen arts, you might just find yourself unwrapping a nifty new spatula or mixer near the end of the year. But foodie gifts, at the holidays, don't always come wrapped or topped with a traditional bow; they can also be experiences, and times of learning, and one of the loveliest, and national-park-iest, arrives just a few days into the new year. It's Taste of Yosemite, at the Majestic Hotel, and the roster is live for the 2018 sessions, which start to sizzle/saut√©/bake/simmer on...

JAN. 7: That's a four-day session, with Brian Streeter of Cakebread Cellars, Ryan Scott of Ryan Scott 2 Go, and David Bazirgan of Bambara in Massachusetts leading the tantalizing and informative gourmet presentations. Other sessions will follow throughout the first month, with some running for two days, some for three or four, and the talented line-up will change with each (Duskie Estes & John Stewart of Sebastopol's Zazu, Peggy Smith & Sue Conley of Cowgirl Creamery, and several other toque-rocking stars'll appear). Want to do a Session & Lodging Package? Those are available. How about just Dinner Only? That's a possibility, too. Plan on supping in stellar fashion, picking up tips, and feeling that perfect crisp chill of a Yosemite January, every time you step outdoors for an appetite-stoking constitutional.
