There may be hope for Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney after all.
Many fans' hearts broke Tuesday upon learning the couple's engagement had been called off; however, it seems the famous pair isn't absolutely, completely, for sure done.
Lady Gaga addressed the reports in an Instagram post, saying she and the "Chicago Fire" star "have always believed [they] are soulmates."
"Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break," the singer wrote. "We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared."
She asked fans to "please root us on."
The singer's rep also confirmed the news to People magazine, saying Kinney and Gaga "are taking a break." A source told People the couple's schedules made things difficult, but they're not ready to throw in the towel just yet.
"She's working on an album, he's working on his show, they aren't in the same state, it was just hard," the source said. "They both love each other very much and they want it to work. It's just been tough with the long distance."
Last week, on Kinney's birthday, Gaga was photographed without her engagement ring. When she performed at an orphanage in Mexico earlier this week, the ring was again missing. It's unclear who initiated taking the time off.
The former pair began dating in 2011 after meeting on the set of Gaga's "You and I" music video.
"When you meet someone that's not intimidated by the amazing people that are around you [or] by the love that you receive — that's love," Gaga told Fashion magazine in 2013. "Men weren't always happy for me. It was very challenging to watch a woman be so successful."
She said at the time she knew Kinney was the one for her.
"I really can't imagine being with anyone other than who I'm with right now," the Golden Globe winner told Howard Stern in a December 2014 SiriusXM interview. "He is the right guy. I have that feeling. I just know it."
Kinney has not commented publicly on the split.
