Cleanup Begins for Capsized Delta Padde-Wheel Boat

The Spirit of Sacramento paddle-wheel river boat that capsized in the Delta earlier this month may finally be pulled from the water.

On Thursday, a massive salvage barge pulled alongside the sunken vessel near Bethel Island. It's not clear whether crew members will right the old riverboat or tow it to safety.

One of the biggest concerns is the hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel in its tanks that could leak into Delta waters.

The U.S. Coast Guard is coordinating with various government agencies on the cleanup.

The 87-foot-long boat began taking on water on the night of Sept. 3 and capsized the following day.
