South Bay Braces for Santa Clara County Workers Strike

South Bay leaders are bracing for what could be one of the largest strikes in Santa Clara County history.

More than 9,000 county employees are ready to walk the picket line over a contract dispute, which could mean massive service disruptions.

Employees can strike as early as next week, according to union leaders.

A strike by SEIU Local 521 could cripple county services -- from hospital workers to emergency dispatchers, and even the marriage license counters at county courts.

All employees are ready to walk the picket lines for the first time in nearly four decades, officials said.
