The Rowland Heights boy was in a cross walk at Colorado Boulevard and Hill Avenue (map) about 7:30 p.m. when the driver of the truck made a right turn and struck him, the Pasadena Police Department said. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m.
The driver of the pickup stopped, police said.
โHe was very cooperative. In fact, he voluntarily said heโd like to give his blood and urine (samples) to prove he wasnโt under the influence,โ said Lt. Tracey Ibarra of the Pasadena Police Department. โHe just didnโt see the child when he made the right-hand turn.โ
The driver has not been arrested.
Police advised drivers to avoid the intersection as they investigated the crash.
