Catcher Tony Sanchez, who signed with the Giants in August, was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.
The move takes Sanchez off the Giants' 40-man roster.
The Giants announced the move on their official transaction page.
A former first-round pick by the Pirates in 2009, Sanchez was released by Pittsburgh in January. A month later, he latched on with the Blue Jays, but was again released in late July. Five days later, the Giants signed the 28-year-old Miami-native.
In 16 games with Sacramento, Sanchez hit .200/.317/.340 with one double, two home runs and five RBI.
With a week left in the 2016 season, the Giants called Sanchez up, but he did not appear in any of the final six games of campaign.
