Official Update: Zynga Snags “Draw Something”

OMGPOP now part of the Zynga family

As expected, the app world - and the gaming world - just got a little more consolidated.

Zynga, as we reported yesterday, has indeed snagged "Draw Something" maker OMGPOP, for a reported 200 million dollars.  The 4-year old company, and its super popular game, are now part of the Pincus & Co empire.

That's a pretty cool price for a (so far) one-hot wonder, but Zynga has been successful up to this point at turning social games into money, and OMGPOP definitely has a hot one on its hands.  Zynga recently took someone else's game, and made it even bigger, and those of you who are also addicted to "Words With Friends" know what I'm talking about.

"Draw Something" recently made news for passing "Words" as the number one downloaded game - it's almost ridiculous to say as of this writing it's been downloaded 20 million times, but even as that number jumps per second, you get the idea.

Can Zynga keep the momentum going?  Investors think so, boosting shares of Zynga (ZNGA) stock as the deal was announced.
