10/27: Cyrano De Bergerac and the Blues

The classic tale of the poet with a large nose and an even larger heart graces the stage at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House. The legendary Placido Domingo portrays the tender-hearted Cyrano De Bergerac in this must-see opera version of the story. The curtain lifts at 7:30 p.m.

If you haven't heard of the Insomniacs by now, it's time you saw their show and get to know them a bit. Their contagious musical is a perfect combo of swing, blues, jump and roots rock and roll. The own-home feel of the album is only natural -- they recored one of their latest hits in the bassist's living room. Check out the Insomniacs at 8 p.m. at Biscuits and Blues in San Francisco.
