EaterWire: Mission Truck Troubles, Iron Chef Teasers

THE MISSION—We mentioned the lil' ruckus at the Mission Street Food truck in this morning's listage, but the guys at the truck have a thorough recap of what exactly went down, and what it could mean: "...last night’s Mission Street Food excursion was our most successful/ridiculous/last(?) one ever. The evening started with an early incident of assbaggery that presaged even greater things to come..." Read the entire account here, but the short story is that some angry neighborhood fellow is in need of Serenity Now, and is also threatening the best new idea of the season. [Plebiscite]

KITCHEN STADIUM—This Sunday night, Chris Cosentino and Michael Symon face off on Iron Chef America. To whet your appetites, Bon Appetit prettyman editor Andrew Knowlton gives a pretty big clue as to the secret ingredients: "But none of them can compete with Battle Halloween, airing this Sunday, October 26 at 9pm/8c, at least when it comes to the secret ingredient ... I haven't seen the edited version but I can assure you that this episode will have many viewers squirming in the their seats." [BA]

NAPA JUNCTION—That new Sonic Drive-In that has been generating all kinds of silly buzz and traffic jams in American Canyon got robbed: "Two masked men, wearing dark hooded sweaters and bandanna-style masks entered the Sonic Drive-In restaurant at 6055 Main St. just before 12:30 am ... Police established a perimeter around the site but were unable to nab the culprits, who escaped on foot" Not much of a perimeter, eh? [VTH]

PLUMPJACKLAND—Starting November 3rd and lasting the whole week, Jack Falstaff's Jonnatan Leiva, PlumpJack Cafe's Rick Edge, Balboa Cafe's Jose Lemus and assorted San Francisco firemen will compete in the fifth annual chili challenge. All week, lunchtime diners will be able to taste—and judge—the four competing chilis. The contest benefits the San Francisco Firefighter Toy Program. [EaterWire]For more stories from Eater SF, go to
