Finally: Big Juicy Park Bonds Approved

Some good green news! Oh so many months after voters approved that $185 million bond for much-needed park improvements, the cash is now being doled out in bite-sized pieces. The majority of the funds will used on 12 oft-used neighborhood spots, many of them kid-friendly. But if you have no interest in softer playground woodchips, don't feel left out -- most park space in the city is set to be improved. First up: $40 million, which includes significant moneys for playfields and forestry, plus (!!) a hefty chunk for park restroom repairs. Gasp. Could this mean no more overflowing Port-a-Johns at Mission Dolores? We don't want to get our hopes up... It could, of course, just yield more transitory toilets, plus a little maintenance.
