Vice Magazine Highlights the Local “New Garage Explosion”

In part three of their look into the current garage rock revival, Vice Magazine-operated VBS.TV shines some well-deserved light on some of the oft overlooked characters that make up the Bay Area's vibrant music scene. Filmed in part at Down at Lulu's, – the Oakland-based Hair Salon and Vintage store operated by Hunx and His Punx frontman Seth Bogart – the piece features an in-depth interview with queercore veteran and Younger Lovers' frontman Brontez Purnell, along with cameos from local gay-pop icon Alexis Penney, Bogart and more.

Cruise on over to VBS.tv to catch this refreshing look into a unique subculture within the larger garage-rock movement, as well as previous installments touching on those usual local suspects that the hipster conglomerate loves to hype (see: Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, Girls, Nobunny).
