Video of Audi Driven in Reverse on Laurel Canyon Boulevard Prompts Investigation

A man and a woman sat in the car as it appeared to nearly miss on-coming traffic, crossing double yellow lines multiple times.

Cellphone video of a car being driven in reverse for several miles on a winding Los Angeles canyon road in heavy traffic prompted a police investigation Saturday.

Kevin Zanazanian shot the 3-minute video of a newer, dark-colored Audi, with car dealer plates, facing the wrong direction southbound on Laurel Canyon Boulevard Thursday at about 5 p.m.

Zanazanian says he trailed the Audi in disbelief.

"Only in LA," he can be heard saying in the video.

A man and a woman sat in the car as it appeared to nearly miss on-coming traffic, crossing double yellow lines multiple times.

"I was shocked that such an individual is doing this," Zanazanian said. "It's very, very dangerous."

The video picks up near Lookout Mountain Avenue but Zanazanian said the erratic driving started closer to Mulholland Drive.

He stayed behind the Audi for miles on the narrow roadway, with one lane in each direction, toward Sunset Boulevard before he stopped the recording. It became too dangerous for him to continue to follow the car, he said.

"That's total insanity," said Gregory Marzec, who lives in the area.

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department were reviewing the video and planned to contact the dealership to reach the driver.

Zanazanian said he planned to cooperate with investigators.
