Woman Dies 2 Weeks After Plane Crashes Into California River

A woman who was a passenger in a seaplane that crashed into a Northern California river two weeks ago has died from her injury.

The daughter of Candace Marshall posted on Facebook that her mother died Thursday.

CBS13 in Sacramento reports Marshall was submerged in the water for an unknown amount of time after the plane went into the American River on Jan. 2.

The pilot, Keith Hezmalhalch, told the station that he thinks the plane crashed because its wheels were down for the planned water landing. He said he freed himself from the plane and dove several times to pull his unconscious passenger out of the plane. He performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

Marshall's daughter said her mother suffered a brain injury upon impact.
