The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting that an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.3 struck the East Bay this afternoon.
The quake shook an area near Oakland at 4:47 p.m., according to the USGS, and had a depth of 9.5 miles.
Its epicenter was located two miles southeast of Oakland and three miles east-northeast of Alameda, according to the USGS.
