Evacuations Lifted After Gas Main Break in Richmond

The city of Richmond has lifted evacuations that were ordered in an area where a gas main broke Thursday afternoon.

The city at 12:51 p.m. ordered the evacuation of the area within a block of South Eighth Street and Virginia Avenue, located near Harbour Way South and Cutting Boulevard.

Nearly an hour later, at 1:41 p.m., the evacuations and shelter-in-place orders for nearby homes and businesses were lifted. No other details about the gas main break were immediately available.
