A 12-year-old boy riding a bicycle on Hicks Avenue was seriously injured Saturday morning when he was struck by a car, police said
The boy was hit on the 1500 block of Hicks by a 2010 Buick Enclave SUV driven by a 32-year-old San Jose woman around 10:19 a.m., according to police.
He was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose with life-threatening injuries, but is expected to survive his injuries. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.
The driver remained at the scene of the collision and was interviewed and released without charges, pending the completion of the investigation. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, but alcohol and drugs are not thought to be factors.
