Swastika Left on Tracy Coucilmember's Lawn

Police in Tracy are upset a victim of a hate crime went to media.

Piles of rocks left in the shape of a swastika -- as well as the male reproductive organ -- on the lawn of a Tracy city council member is a possible hate crime, according to police.

When someone rang the front door of Councilwoman Nancy Young's home at 1:35 a.m. on Tuesday, she and her family ignored it, the Tracy Press reported.

But when she left for work at 6:15 a.m., she found an unnerving site: a swastika made from stones swiped from palm trees in her front yard. Another pile of rocks were placed in "the shape of a penis," the newspaper reported.

Rocks were also left under the wheels of her car, which leads Young to believe she was singled out.

Police confirmed the incident is being investigated as a hate crime.

Young told the newspaper about the incident, which didn't make police happy.

"The fact she has disclosed this investigation is likely to scare this person off," said Tracy Police Chief Gary Hampton.
