Kamala Harris Rally Will Close Downtown Streets

A Kamala Harris for President campaign launch rally is set to open at noon Sunday in downtown Oakland, in front of Oakland City Hall at 1 Frank H Ogawa Plaza.

The rally itself is set to start at 12:45 p.m.; the actual entrance is at the corner of 14th Street and Broadway.

A number of rally-related street closures will be in effect. It started at about 5 p.m. Saturday, when 14th Street was closed between Broadway and Clay Street.

Other closures are set to begin at 7 a.m. Sunday. These include Broadway from 12th to 17th Streets (partial closure until 10 a.m.), Telegraph Avenue from 15th to 17th Streets; Clay Street from 14th to 17th Streets; 14th Street from Franklin to Jefferson Streets; 15th Street from Franklin Street to Broadway; and San Pablo Avenue from 17th to 16th Streets.

All these streets are expected to remain closed until approximately 4 p.m., two hours after the rally's scheduled end time.

Also, the Frank Ogawa Plaza and 14th Street exits will be closed at the 12th Street BART station under downtown Oakland much of Sunday. Passengers are encouraged to use the 19th Street station instead.

The rally is being organized by the Harris campaign, and is not a city-sponsored event.

CORRECTION (Jan. 27, 2018, 10:20 a.m. PST): An earlier version of this story incorrectly referenced a BART station closure.
