Klay Thomson Propels Shorthanded Warriors to 10th Straight Win

    OAKLAND -- Riding the scorching shooting of Klay Thompson and relying on defense late, the Warriors won their 10th consecutive game, grinding out a 97-84 win over the Grizzlies on Wednesday night at Oracle Arena.

    Thompson scored 29 points -- 27 in the first half -- to lead the offense. Kevin Durant finished with 22 points and Omri Casspi totaled 12.

    The Warriors (25-6) held Memphis to 33.3-percent shooting -- 29.5 percent after the first quarter -- to become the fourth team in NBA history to post win streaks of at least 10 games in five consecutive seasons.

    STANDOUT PERFORMER: Thompson carried the Warriors the first half, when they needed to be carried, making his first nine shots from the field before getting limited touches in the second half and cooling off.

    Thompson’s line: 29 points (10-of-16 from the field, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, 6-of-6 from the line), five assists, two rebounds and two steals. He played 37 minutes and was a team-best plus-17.

    TURNING POINT: After a Deyonta Davis dunk gave the Grizzlies a 28-18 lead with 1:40 remaining in the first quarter, the Warriors responded with a 17-4 run, taking a 35-32 lead on a short jump shot by Omri Casspi with 8:35 left in the second quarter.

    The Warriors pushed the lead as high as 10 (52-42) before taking a 56-51 lead at halftime.

    The Warriors led throughout the second half, with Memphis getting as close as four (78-74) with 9:22 remaining before the Warriors pulled away.

    INJURY UPDATE: Warriors: F Andre Iguodala (flu) was listed as questionable and downgraded to out prior to tipoff. F Draymond Green (R shoulder soreness) and C Zaza Pachulia (L shoulder soreness) were listed as doubtful and downgraded to out prior to tipoff. G Stephen Curry (R ankle sprain) and G Shaun Livingston (L knee soreness) were listed as out.

    Grizzlies: G Mike Conley (L Achilles soreness), F Chandler Parsons (rest), F Wayne Selden Jr. (R quad tendinopathy) and F Brandan Wright (R groin strain) were listed as out.
