Late Night Santa Rosa Park Shooting Leaves 25-Year-Old Man Injured

A man is in serious, but stable condition after being shot near Santa Rosa's Finley Park Saturday night, police said.

At 11:37 p.m., police responded to reports of gunshots at 2060 West College Ave., where they found a 25-year-old man suffering from several gunshot wounds.

The man was taken to a hospital, according to police.

A responding officer conducted a traffic stop on a car with three male subjects leaving the parking lot of the Finely Center and spotted a loaded gun at the feet of the front-seat passenger.

The officer arrested the man, identified as Eric Jovany Morales, 19 of Santa Rosa, police said.

Morales was booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on suspicion of possession of a loaded firearm in public and possession of a concealed firearm by an active gang participant.

Additionally, several people at the scene were detained and questioned, according to police.

The Santa Rosa Police Department's Gang Crimes Team believes this was a targeted, gang-related incident, police said.

A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects involved in the shooting.
