Petaluma police arrested a suspect for assaulting a man with a golf club and taking his bicycle in a park Saturday night.

The victim was riding his bike while trying to balance a golf club and bottle of soda as he rode near the Lynch Creek Trail in Lucchesi Park around 10:10 p.m., police said.

The victim told police a man appeared and knocked him off the bicycle and struck his left forearm multiple times with the golf club.

The suspect, identified as 55-year-old Lee Bussell of Petaluma, fled with the golf club and bicycle but he was arrested nearby on North McDowell Boulevard for robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim suffered a fractured to the left ulna bone and was taken to Petaluma Valley Hospital, police said.
