Man Kicks Bucket, Gets 30 Days in Jail

Anger management also ordered in animal cruelty case.

A Redwood City man will serve 30 days in the San Mateo County Jail and spend two years on probation for kicking Bucket. Bucket is his dog.

John Abdon Johnson, 56, was sentenced on Friday according to the San Jose Mercury News.

A police officer saw Johnson hit Bucket in the head and kick him on May 13. When the officer tried to stop him, Johnson apparently said he had a right to beat his dog.

Johnson pleaded no contest to misdemeanor animal cruelty.

He will spend 30 days in jail and undergo 32 hours of anger management counseling. He's not allowed to care for or live with any animals now.

As for Bucket, a veterinarian says he will be okay.
