Napster Creator Wants Warner Music

To this day one can't mumble the name "Napster" without thinking of free music sharing and how it was ultimately shut down by the record companies. Now, in a twist, Sean Parker, the man who helped create the infamous file sharing network, is interested in buying Warner Music Corp.

Parker, now known for having wad of Facebook cash in his wallet, has joined a consortium of investors, including billionaire Ron Burkle, and Doug Teitelbaum, reports All Things Digital.

One theory as to why Parker is interested in the deal, involves his dealings with Spotify, a streaming music service, which is big in Europe. However, the service hasn't hit it yet in the U.S. mainly due to the lack of two major record labels - Universal Music Group, and you guessed it, Warner.

The team is one of five interested parties, and it's expected that Warner will make a decision in the next few weeks.
