Oakland's crime rate puts it on the 'most dangerous city' list.

24/7 Wall St. took a look at the 2010 FBI crime data, and found violent crime rose in the largest and poorest cities in the U.S., one of which is right here in the Bay Area.

Oakland made the top ten most dangerous cities in the States, coming in at number six.

Even though the city's violent crime dropped about 5.5% between 2009 and 2010, it's still has the tenth-highest rate of rape, ninth-highest murder rate, and the second highest robbery rate, the report concluded.

7.12 robberies were committed for every 1,000 Oakland residents.

Cities worse off than Oakland included Memphis, Tenn. at number five, New haven, Conn. at four, number three is St. Louis, two is Detroit, and topping off the list -- Flint, Michigan.
