Pope Benedict XVI Spends 40 Days on Twitter

The Pontiff will offer words of wisdom in 140-characters or less.

Pope Benedict XVI is on Twitter and he is about to give the social media site a whole lot of his blessings.

The holy Pontiff will take to the San Francisco-based social media site to send a tweet a day during the Lenten season.

For 40 days Pope Benedict XVI will send one tweet a day in English, Spanish, Italian, French and German.

"It's an experiment also for us to see how it goes, to see what level of impact it has,"  Tighe said in an interview with Vatican Radio's Phillippa Hitchen. "It's something dynamic and different."

And the Pope has already started his daily tweets:

"Let us be concerned for each other, to stir a response in love and good works" (Heb 10:24) #Lent #Pope2You
