Rain, Inshallah: Bay Area Muslims Invite All to Pray for Rain

Bay Area Muslims will pray for rain on Saturday

The San Francisco Bay Area chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations is organizing a prayer service that will implore God to bestow rain upon the drought-racked region, according to the Contra Costa Times.

All are enjoined to come to the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

"When God withholds the rain it is a trial for everyone," said event organizer Imam Zaid Shakir. "Muslims, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, atheists, men, women, children, beasts, birds, even the fish, as we see in the devastation the drought has wrought upon our salmon populations."
