SF DA Charges Teen With Stealing 114 Bikes

Bikes found at Silver Terrace home declared stolen, resold.

The San Francisco District Attorney on Wednesday charged an 18-year-old man on 20 felony counts of bike theft, after police found 114 bikes in his possession, which were later sold on Craigslist and at the Oakland Flea Market.

But Irving Morales-Sanchez, said that the bicycle chop shop found by police in San Francisco's Silver Terrace neighborhood is totally legal, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

About 20 people identified bikes found at Morales-Sanchez's home, following a raid by SFPD spurred on by an anonymous tip, the newspaper reported.

Morales-Sanchez had been selling the bikes on Craigslist and at the Oakland flea market, but assured cops that he acquired them via legal means.

The District Attorney estimates the value of all the bikes is more than $10,000.
