SJ's Pagoda Ditches Dinner for Music

Chinese restaurant says it will transition to music venue.

The "hippest new club" in San Jose is trying to get a whole lot hipper.

The Pagoda Bamboo Lounge in the Fairmount in downtown San Jose stopped serving dinner Tuesday and instead, the one-time Chinese restaurant will feature the music of up-and-coming bands.

"Pagoda is not closing, rather evolving," Mike Lerman, Food and Beverage Manager of The Fairmont San Jose said in a statement.

The owners of the Chinese restaurant said they had received numerous requests for an intimate space to listen to San Jose's music scene.

The venue has already played host to music, including its popular series Live at the Pagoda.

A full music schedule at the venue can be found on the Pagoda's website.
