San Francisco County Supervisor Scott Wiener upended fellow Democrat Jane Kim to grab control of California's 11th District State Senate seat.
Wiener, who will now be tasked with representing San Francisco, Broadmoor, Colma, Daly City and sections of South San Francisco, claimed 142,059 votes compared to Kim's 128,431 when all precincts had filed complete results Wednesday morning.
Outgoing Democrat Mark Leno will vacate his district position, a seat that he has held since 2008.
