A shooting victim, who sources say Stanislav Petrov dropped off at a hospital, died on Wednesday, NBC Bay Area has learned.
Authorities are not releasing the victim's name.
The shooting happened before a raid on Friday in San Francisco's Visitacion Valley.
Sources told NBC Bay Area that the federal government was conducting some kind of gun investigation involving Petrov and arrested him after finding a weapon.
Petrov is the man who was caught on camera being beaten by Alameda County deputies in November following a police chase across the Bay Bridge.
Petrov remains in jail.
