Suspect in Fatal San Jose Shooting Who Fled to Mexico Arrested

A man identified as a suspect in a fatal San Jose shooting in January is in custody after being extradited from Mexico.

Detectives investigating the Jan. 26 shooting of Cruz Ayala, 23, identified Miguel Munoz-Huerta as the suspect, Ayala was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound when officers found him just before 2 a.m. at South 10th Street and East William Street and he died after being taken to a hospital.

Mexican authorities arrested Munoz-Huerta on Tuesday and on Friday he was flown to San Francisco International Airport, where he was turned over to U.S. Marshals.

Munoz-Huerta was then taken into custody by San Jose homicide detectives and booked into Santa Clara County Jail for murder.
