Without Durant, Warriors Run Away From Wolves, Win Fifth Straight

OAKLAND -- The Warriors cooled the Timberwolves and stayed hot in the process, running off with a 125-101 win Wednesday night at Oracle Arena.

The victory was the fifth in row for the Warriors (9-3) and snapped a five-game win streak for Minnesota (7-4).

Six Warriors scored in double figures, led by Klay Thompson’s 28 points. Stephen Curry put in 22, Omri Casspi 13, Nick Young 12, Andre Iguodala -- starting for Kevin Durant -- 11 and David West totaled 10.

The Warriors overcame early turnovers with 63.5-percent shooting over the final three quarters.

STANDOUT PERFORMER: This one goes to the bench, with Omri Casspi and Nick Young leading the way.

Casspi’s line: 13 points (5-of-7 shooting, including 1-of-1 from deep, 2-of-3 from the line), three blocks, two steals and two rebounds. He played 20 minutes and finished plus-9.

Young’s line: 12 points (4-of-11 shooting, 3-of-9 from deep), five assists, four steals and three rebounds. He drilled a two 3-pointers and nabbed two steals during the game-turning rally in the third quarter. He played 21 minutes and finished plus-9.

Warriors reserves outscored those of the Timberwolves 57-29.

TURNING POINT: When Minnesota got within 3 (67-64) on a Karl-Anthony Towns layup with 6:39 left in the third quarter, the Warriors switched on the defense to trigger a 24-8 run that gave the Warriors a 91-72 lead on a Young 3-pointer with 1:19 left in the third.

The Warriors limited the Timberwolves to 3-of-9 shooting with six turnovers during the rally and closed the quarter with a 95-76 lead.

Minnesota got no closer than 15 in the fourth quarter.

INJURY UPDATE: Warriors: F Kevin Durant (L thigh contusion) was listed as out. C Damian Jones is on assignment with the G-League Santa Cruz Warriors.

Timberwolves: C Justin Patton (L foot surgery) was listed as out.
