Woman Allegedly Attacked Near Santa Clara University

The alleged incident has made some students re-think walking around campus alone.

Most students were either studying or sleeping when a woman in her twenties was attacked just one block away from Santa Clara University last Tuesday.

"She did not require any immediate medical attention," said Matt Hogan, a Santa Clara Police Department spokesperson.

Santa Clara Police investigators said two men saw the woman walking alone on Bellomy Street Tuesday morning, according to the woman.

She ignored the men until one of them grabbed her, but she was able to wrestle herself free.

"This street is usually pretty busy during typical weeks," said Kelly Breault, a Santa Clara University student. "But since it was finals, it was pretty dead."

Santa Clara University sent out an e-mail to all of its students just hours after the alleged attack.

The incident has made some re-think walking around alone.

"It's really scary that she was assaulted right where everyone walks every single day," said student Erica Ward. "Makes me really nervous you know."
