Woman, Fixing Car Nearly Crushed

A Pittsburg woman can thank a stranger for saving her life Wednesday morning.

According to police, the woman was driving along Riverview Drive when something went wrong with her car.  Apparently it had happened before, because she pulled over, lifted it up on jacks and climbed underneath to fix it.

But while she was doing that, something went wrong and the car came down on top of her preventing her from breathing, according to police

Someone saw what was happening and ran over to help.  He jacked the car back up enough to pull the woman free.

Her 12-year-old son, while probably traumatized by what he saw, was not physically hurt according to police.

The woman was listed in critical condition at John Muir Medical Center.
