Alaska Airlines to Start Daily Service from San Jose Airport to NYC

"Silicon Valley business and leisure travelers will love the addition of a direct, daytime flight to New York," San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo said

Alaska Airlines will start daily nonstop service from Mineta San Jose International Airport to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport starting on July 6, airport officials announced on Wednesday.

Airport officials said the new route is "significant" since it is the No. 1 requested domestic market by Silicon Valley travelers. In addition, it will be the first daytime nonstop flight from San Jose to JFK.

"Silicon Valley business and leisure travelers will love the addition of a direct, daytime flight to New York," San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo said.

The Airbus A320 aircraft will take off from San Jose at 7:05 a.m. and land at JFK at 3:43 p.m. local time, then takes off at 4:45 p.m. for a return flight that lands in San Jose at 8:23 p.m.

Alaska Airlines is the second-largest carrier at the San Jose airport, with nonstop flights to 19 cities in the U.S. and Mexico.
