The Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport now has more electric vehicle charging stations in the long-term parking lot and in front of the airport terminal, county officials announced Tuesday.
The four Tesla super charging stations in the long-term parking lot and 11 ChargePoint stations in the long-term lot and in front of the airport are now open around the clock all week, officials said.
There previously were only two charging stations at the airport.
"Providing EV charging stations is yet another way to maintain STS as the airport of choice for regional travelers, and do something good for the environment," airport manager Jon Stout said.
North Bay residents and airport passengers who drive zero-emission vehicles are a rapidly growing market, county officials said. The Sonoma County Airport will now be a charging point operator for both ChargePoint and Tesla.
ChargePoint is the world's largest and most open electric vehicle charging network, and Tesla has a network of 1,359 charging stations across the country, according to airport officials.
The EV charging stations at the Sonoma County Airport were partially financed through a partnership with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District Charge! Program. The program helps public agencies and businesses expand the network of publicly available plug-in EV stations at public and residential locations.

The airport offers flights to Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Portland, Seattle, Phoenix, Minnesota, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Denver.
