Boy's Wish Brings Him to Historic San Jose Trolley

A young boy battling mitochondrial disease will spend the day in San Jose Wednesday as part of his quest to ride as many trolleys as possible.

Henry Mulvey, an 11-year-old from Massachusetts, traveled to the Bay Area in conjunction with the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation with  the goal of riding as many trolleys as he can during his visit.

Today, Henry and his family will visit the Trolley Barn museum at History Park, part of San Jose's Kelley Park. He will ride two trolleys, a 1912 car that once ran in San Jose, and a Birney car from 1922, named for its  designer.

Volunteers who restore San Jose's historic trolleys will give Henry a tour of the barn, following an official welcome at noon.
